LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - This is not the kind of news any football fan wants to hear.
McNeese State has announced quarterback Zack Fourroux's football future might be in jeopardy after a back injury he sustained during spring practice. The release says he's now undergoing treatment for the injury.
The sophomore from Erath, LA was hoping to compete for McNeese's starting job in 2010.
When I contacted the McNeese State Athletic Department, they said they could not elaborate any further.
Zack Fourroux is the younger brother of former McNeese State four-year starting quarterback Derrick Fourroux.
Here is the official press release from McNeese State:
The football future of McNeese State quarterback Zack Fourroux is in question due to an injury he suffered two weeks ago.
Cowboy athletic trainer Jim Murphy said that Fourroux had a back injury and was currently undergoing treatment.
"We will see how he responds," Murphy said.
Fourroux, a sophomore to be from Erath, had been in the battle for the starting role at quarterback for the Cowboys.
"Zack's injury is unfortunate," said Cowboy head coach Matt Viator. "He has worked extremely hard to get himself in position to compete for the starting quarterback job. However, at this time we are only worried about his health and well being."
