LACASSINE, LA (KPLC) - For residents of Southwest Louisiana, the Lacassine Water Park may be opening its doors this summer.

The park has been under construction for the past year and half because hurricanes in the fall of 2008 and rainy weather throughout the process has caused a delay in completion.  Still, park officials believe there is a chance for the park to open by mid July or early August.

Dommar Hijazi, project manager/developer says, "we're trying our best to finish it, its been really good as long as the weather permit us to work."

One of the special features will be the lazy river which is approximately 900ft long, along with 11 slides, kiddy area, adult pool, wave pool, a couple of food areas and in the future, a park hotel.

When the park first opens, it will cover 25 acres of land, but every year the park plans to add more onto it until it covers the entire 100 acres of land that was purchased.
