LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) – The Super Bowl was over two months ago, but according to Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem that doesn't mean people in Louisiana are over their "Saints fever."
The Saints wide receivers signed autographs for fans at Cougar Stadium today before the Lake Charles Panthers Game.
Henderson and Meachem were both honorary captains for the Panthers. Both players spoke about the importance of giving back to the people of Louisiana.
Meachem stated, "We gave a lot of people hope again after Katrina and Gustav, we gave a lot of people hope and I was just glad to be a part of it.
"I think when the ceremony happens it will really sink in that we're Super Bowl champions. You know the fans, New Orleans fans, you've got to love them. They love you to death and every day they tell you when you walk around, you're a Super Bowl champion, but to you it was just another game."
"Anywhere we go it means a lot to just kind of give back and show the people wherever, that we appreciate the support, not only myself, but my teammates and the whole organization," Henderson said. "We appreciate the support that they showed us, we couldn't do it without the fans and the people that pack the Super Dome and the people that support us all year long."
