SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) - Several departments of the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital have begun relocating to a new wing. Completion of the new wing marks the finishing touches of the first phase of the hospital's three phase master facility plan.

Construction on the project began in early 2008. The cost of the additions will be around $19 million. Funding is coming from a taxpayer approved $25 million capital bond issue from 2006.

The new wing has increased the size of several departments, such as the Radiology Department. It grew in size from 5,500 square feet to 12,000 square feet. There were seven care patient rooms and now there will be twelve.

7 News hopes to speak with hospital officials about the expansion, and get more information about when the entire project will be completed.
