LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Tidbits of History Program presented little known facts about the great fire of 1910 at the SWLA Genealogical & Historical Library on Tuesday. The program holds presentations the first Tuesday of every month and decided to commemorate its one hundred years anniversary.
Genealogist Linda Gill says, "this fire did not only destroy homes and businesses, it destroyed the parish courthouse, the city hall...that means all of the records, historical and genealogical records for Lake Charles and imperial Calcasieu Parish were destroyed."
The program will hold the presentation again on April 26, 6pm at Piccadilly Cafeteria.
Next months topic will be the history of the Calcasieu Library.
