Friday night (March 26), a beautiful woman will rise a dozen feet into the air and just float there, hovering with no visible means of support. All of a sudden the young man who sent her up in the air will soar up to meet her, and both of them will be suspended – two people just hanging out in the air.
The trick is called a "double levitation." And Bishop is the only man in the United States who can do it.
And it will be part of The Jason Bishop Show, which will open at 7:30 p.m. in the Rosa Hart Theatre of the Lake Charles Civic Center. The performance is co-presented by the McNeese State University Banners Cultural Series and the city of Lake Charles.
Tickets are part of a Banners Series membership. Individual tickets are available at the Lake Charles Civic Center box office, online at www.banners.org <http://www.banners.org> (click on Jason Bishop) and will be sold at the door. Prices are $20 for adults, $5 for students and free to McNeese students with ID.
Bishop has been in Lake Charles for the past several days. On Wednesday, he gave mini-performances at Vinton Middle School and St. Margaret Catholic School. Thursday he gave a special performance for disadvantaged children, funded totally by CITGO and other Banners sponsors. Bishops is a former foster child and takes every opportunity to "give back" to organizations that serve children.
The Jason Bishop Show now tours the most dynamic illusion and magic show in the United States. The show features exclusive large illusions, award-winning sleight of hand and "close-up" magic.
It may seem counterintuitive for an illusionist – but Bishop makes sure that the audience gets an up-close view of all his work on stage. He projects the "magic" onto LCD screens so the audience has a clear view of every detail.
Bishop is currently the only illusionist in the U.S. to tour with the rare double levitation, plasma illusion and op-art. His performance abilities have led him from New Mexico to Maine and Florida to New York, as well as every state in-between.
Bishop has entertained celebrities like Bam Margera, who after seeing a performance, said, "Jason Bishop is the best magician I've ever seen." Bishop's combination of modern costuming and music, fast-paced illusions, sleight of hand and audience participation has landed him in several notable venues, including Norwegian Cruise lines, Caroline's on Broadway and the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City.
His sidekick is the beautiful Kim Hess. Hess participates in most of the illusions and she is also an award-winning performer in baton twirling. She started twirling at age 4 and performed in a twirling group for 19 years. In that time she won well over 100 awards, among them were first place trophies from the National/World Baton Conference held at Notre Dame University.
