LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) – As the nation's housing market slowly stabilizes, it still continues to experience set backs due to rising home foreclosures, but despite the problems, the Calcasieu Parish real estate market remains strong.
Derenda Grubb, the 2010 President Elect of the Louisiana Realtors Association, said "Last year, on kippenger.com, we were highlighted as number three in the nation as having the strongest real estate market."
Grubb, says the housing market in the five parish area is doing fine, despite seeing some minor changes.
"We are seeing a few more homes that are starting to be subject to short sale or are actually being marketed as foreclosures," said Grubb.
The number of foreclosures isn't staggering, according to Grubby it's less than 30.
Grubb stated, "When you think about the hundreds of homes we have on the market, it's a very short percentage."
But what if you're in that number that's facing foreclosure?
"Don't be afraid to contact your lender and ask for assistance," said Grubb. "They will direct you to certain websites and certain federal agencies that can help you."
