Westlake H.S. Student wins at Oratorical Contest

The Following is a press release from Westlake High School:

Westlake H.S. Student wins at Oratorical Contest Kathyrn Reeser, 10th grader at Westlake High School, won 2nd place in the high school division at the 2010 Oratorical Contest.  The contest was sponsored by the City of Lake Charles on February 27 at Central School of the Arts and Humanities Center.  She was awarded $250.00 for her speech on "It takes a Village - Community Involvement."  Reeser is a theatre student of Kerry Onxley's and child of Jason and Jennifer Reeser

    The Saharan dust is still around and is expected to be in a "unhealthy for sensitive groups" today. If you have breathing problems, or asthma, make sure to use caution if you spend any time outdoors. There will also be very warm temperatures, reaching the mid 90s. There will not be any rain to cool these temperatures down. It will likely feel like the triple digits, getting as high as 107 degrees. It will take time for the temperatures to cool down with no rain.

    U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao announced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will award almost $3.9 million in infrastructure grants to the airport.
