Raceland sex offender caught after exceeding fishing limit

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Lafourche Parish sheriff's deputies say they located a man accused of failing to register as a sex offender after he allegedly exceeded the fishing limit and took undersized redfish.

Sgt. Lesley Hill-Peters says 33-year-old Michael Ordoyne of Raceland remained jailed in lieu of a $10,000 bond on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.

She says he was required to register for 15 years after his 1999 conviction in Lafourche on a charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, but hasn't registered since 2008.

Hill-Peters says wildlife agents ticketed Ordoyne and another man last weekend, then were tipped that he'd given his brother's name. They learned about the registration warrant when they booked him Wednesday on a misrepresentation charge.
