LSP in Lake Charles to Implement Automated Telephone System

The following is a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop D.

Beginning at approximately 08:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 4, 2010, calls to Louisiana State Police Troop D in Lake Charles will be answered by an automated telephone system.

Callers to Troop D will hear a menu of options and then choose the one that best serves their needs.  The first option will allow callers to report a vehicle crash, road hazard, or reckless driver.  Other options will allow callers to connect to telephone extensions within the troop or obtain information such as current road conditions.

According to Troop D's commander, Captain Michael Leonards, "The new system will allow State Police to direct incoming calls more quickly and effectively.  Especially during emergencies, the new system will allow us to respond to inquiries faster."

The telephone number at Troop D remains unchanged at (337) 491-2511 or *LSP (*577) from your cell phone.
