BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Driving through Baton Rouge on I-10 may be a little easier in a few years.
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Secretary William D. Ankner on Monday announced that the department has executed a design-build contract to widen I-10 in Baton Rouge to six lanes. The contract also calls for replacing the 44-year-old bridge over the Kansas City Southern railroad with a new bridge.
Work will begin this spring and finish by the end of 2012.
The $60 million project is 100 percent funded by stimulus funds received from the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
