Lawmaker cites 'poor judgment' in DWI arrest

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - State Rep. Bobby Badon of Carencro has apologized for his actions after state police cited him for a first-offense DWI.

In a written statement Wednesday, Badon said he exercised poor judgment and drove his vehicle after consuming alcohol.

Trooper Stephen Hammons, spokesman for Troop I, said Badon was stopped for a traffic violation shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday on La. Highway 182 near Carencro.

During the stop, Hammons said the trooper suspected Badon may have been impaired by alcohol.

Hammons said Badon was issued a misdemeanor citation for first-offense DWI and improper lane use.
