Jack Hanna comes to Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Jungle Jack Hanna and his animal friends came to Lake Charles today.

Jack said he always enjoys going to town like Lake Charles when he can get the chance.

"I really enjoy going to Lake Charles because I get to see people. When you do shows like Letterman for 25 years, Good Morning America, Ellen, Maury Povich or Fox TV you see cameras. You don't see the people, I love to see people," said Hanna.

Just as happy as Jack was to be here, the people of Lake Charles were happy to have him.  Jack was presented a key to the city this afternoon from Mayor Randy Roach.

While Jack enjoys talking everywhere he goes, he does have a special place in heart for smaller cities like Lake Charles.

"I love going to smaller towns or cities. Yes, we go to Boston, we do New York, we do Miami, that's great. These people are exposed to a lot of people. I'm not a celebrity, I'm not a star, I'm just a character who likes to talk about conservation of animals in a fun way," says Jack.

Hanna loves educating and allowing people to see animals that they normally would never get to see up close, and that's why he can't see himself stopping any time soon.

"I love what I do, and I've learned...It's like I say to a lot of people, as long as you love what you do, then you want to continue it," he stated.

If you are interested in seeing more Jungle Jack Hanna, he has a new show called Jack Hanna's Into the Wild.
