Deaville Earns Distinguished State Award

The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish School System.

LAKE CHARLES, LA - Patrick Deaville, Calcasieu Parish School System Director of High School Curriculum, has been selected as the Outstanding Contributor to School Bands in Louisiana for 2009 by Phi Beta Mu, the International Band Masters Fraternity.

The group annually selects one individual in Louisiana who has made significant and lasting contributions to school bands and music education. The award was presented to Deaville (left) by Phi Beta Mu Vice-President Glenn Dagenhardt (right) at the recent Louisiana Music Educators State Conference.

Deaville has served on the Louisiana Music Educators Association Board of Directors for 23 years.  He is a Past-President of Phi Beta Mu and served for 18 years as editor of The Louisiana Musician and as Chairman of the State Music Conference for the past 22 years.

During his 38 year career Deaville has earned many awards as an army officer, distinguished band director, and outstanding administrator.  A noted writer, he has also had articles published in state, national and international magazines.
