Chief of Lake Charles Fire Department to retire

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - David Manuel, the Chief of the Lake Charles Fire Department, announced his plans to retire from the LCFD effective April 15, 2010.

Manuel was appointed chief of the LCFD by Mayor Randy Roach in 2003. When he leaves the department, he will have served 37 years.

Mayor Roach says that "The City of Lake Charles recognizes the hard work and true dedicated service provided by Chief Manuel and greatly appreciates his unwavering commitment to his department and the citizens of our City through his leadership as Chief of the Fire Department. He is a person of great character and integrity.  We will miss him and wish him the very best."

Among Chief Manuel's many accomplishments include establishing a disaster response trailer and helping to guide the city fire department in its emergency response to both hurricanes Rita and Ike.
