CPSO releases robbery prevention stats

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office conducted its sixth annual Robbery Prevention Mobilization at the Prien Lake Mall during the holiday season from the day after Thanksgiving through December 27.

During the detail, the CPSO had 628 assistance calls, 599 business checks, and 66 vehicle traffic-related incidents.

Deputies logged more than 1,500 man hours during the detail.

The deputies assisted shoppers with helping them find their car, jump starting cars, changing flat tires, and helping employees and shoppers by walking them to their car after dark.

The business checks were conducted by deputies at the mall, as well as Southgate Shopping Center on Ryan Street and the Power Center on Highway 14 in Lake Charles.
