LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Tense moments Saturday night for some Lake Charles boaters after their yacht catches fire. The boaters were out near Prien Lake when they noticed smoke coming from what appeared to be the engine. A call for help went out, until then everyone on the boat got off and the vessel was brought to shore by the time firefighters arrived.
"There was heavy smoke, but yet no visible flames. Crews made entry into the boat and extinguished the fire and as of right now they are doing the best they can to make sure this doesn't re-ignite and making sure everything is safe and sound," Captain Jeremy LeBlanc, with the Lake Charles Fire Department.
The U.S. Coast Guard also responded. No word on the exact cause of the fire or extent of the damages, but no injuries were reported.
