Shooting troubles

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) – The Cowgirls shooting problems continued against Tulane last night.

In their 75-45 loss, the pokes were 31% in field goals, and on the night they went one for two free throws. The Cowgirls only player in double figures was Kendra Wells, with 12 points. Wells has played a pivotal role in the offense, but wasn't consistently involved in the game because of foul troubles.

Today, Head coach Brooks Donald Williams acknowledged that while not having Wells hurt, it wasn't the only reason the Cowgirls performance suffered.

"When the balls not going in, we're always going to struggle, you know it wasn't a good night. Kendra Wells was on and off the bench with foul trouble and she's been our best perimeter scorer as of late, she's had a couple of games when she's had twenty and twenty one, and that really hurt us with her sitting a lot and no relief coming from the bench. Our bench scoring has been a big problem for us this year, and it really hurt us last night."

The Cowgirls return to action on December 30, 2009 to host Norfolk State.
