Miss Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana Pageant Open for Entries

LAKE CHARLES, LA – Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana invites all young ladies between the ages of 5 and 23 for Miss divisions or 24 and up for the Ms. division to enter the 2010 Miss Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana pageant on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Lake Charles Civic Center Contraband Room, held at 9 a.m. for pageants featuring participants 5-15 years old and 6:30 p.m. for those 16-24 years old and up.

Contestants must be residents of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron or Jeff Davis Parishes.  There are eight different age categories.  The queens will reign over the 2010 Mardi Gras festivities in Lake Charles and be presented at parades and events.

Entry forms are available at Rhinestone Runway, Broadway Royalty Boutique and the Imperial Pageant Gallery.  Entry forms can also be obtained online at www.laffnet.org under "Pageant Info," at www.swlamardigras.com. Entrants can also contact  Angela Frederick  at (337) 582-7689.

    Authorities are working to cap a "minor" gas leak on La. 397. Dick Gremillion, with the Office of Emergency Preparedness, says a small amount of excess natural gas had to be released at the corner of Farm Road and La. 397.
