BEAUREGARD PARISH, LA (KPLC) - A hunter in Beauregard Parish is recovering after he was accidentally shot by a fellow hunter, while hunting deer on Friday morning.
This is the second hunting accident to occur in Beauregard Parish in a matter of only three weeks.
According to Sergeant Aaron Herpin with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the man was on a deer hunting mission with a group of hunters when the man walked out of another hunter's line of vision and was struck.
The man's injuries are not life-threatening, but the event does serve as an opportunity for LDWF agents to remind hunters to make safety their top priority.
Herpin says the main tip he would give hunters is wear their hunter's orange. Herpin also wants hunters to make sure they check their equipment before they start hunting.
The LDWF also has more hunting safety tips and regulations listed on their website.
