Saints not marching into SWLA

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Many of SWLA Saints fans will not be able to watch New Orleans Saints take its undefeated record on the road to play the Dallas Cowboys this Saturday.  That's because the Saints vs. Cowboys game is on the NFL Network. A network that's not on one of the lake area's cable providers, Suddenlink and other cable outlets.

Suddenlink, the largest cable provider in SWLA, released a statement saying they negotiated with the NFL Network this summer, and reached a verbal agreement in September. Then, Suddenlink says the NFL Network withdrew that offer, and returned with a new proposal that included what Suddenlink calls unacceptable costs and conditions.

In New Orleans, the broadcast stations can bid for the rights to show the game, but the NFL Network does not extend that option outside of the team's local TV market.
