NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Producers of a planned remake of the movie "True Grit" are looking for a young girl to play the lead female role of Mattie Ross.
Paramount Pictures and The Coen Brothers are bringing their search for a 12-year-old to 16-year-old Caucasian girl to Lafayette Wednesday. Anyone interested in auditioning is being asked to bring a current photo to the Ramada of Lafayette between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The Casting Office says they want a girl who is "tough, strong and tells it like is" to play the 14-year-old Mattie.
Kim Darby played Mattie in the 1969 original movie about a girl who helps hunt down her father's killer.
Auditions for the role were also held in West Virginia this month.
