Fatal shooting leads to arrest

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A 60-year-old Lafayette man has been booked with second-degree murder after police said he shot a man at his home.

Cpl. Paul Mouton, spokesman for the Lafayette Police Department, tells The Advertiser that Jerry Steinle was arrested Thursday night.

Mouton said officers were called to Steinle's home around 3:11 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, he said the body of a man was found in the home's front yard.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.

Mouton said some kind of argument lead to the shooting, but it is unclear what that alleged argument was about.
