LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) – The road to Chattanooga ends.
The McNeese State Cowboys were defeated by the New Hampshire Wildcats 49-13 at Cowboy Stadium in the first round of the FCS Playoffs Saturday afternoon. The Cowboys were only down 21-13 at half time, but the 2nd half was all about the Wildcats. New Hampshire shut out the Cowboys in the second half, going on to score twenty-eight unanswered points.
The Wildcats ran over the Cowboys defense totaling 460 yards and scoring seven total touchdowns on the day. On the other hand, the Cowboys didn't have the usual showing. The Pokes totaled only 326 yards with only one touchdown coming from freshman Champlain Babin.
The Cowboys finished the season 9-3 overall, also winning a share of the Southland Conference Championship.
