LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The high school football season in southwest Louisiana is now over.
After a great playoff run, the Oberlin Tigers lost to the South Plaquemines Hurricanes in the quarterfinal round, 42-19.
South Plaquemines had control for virtually the entire game, leading 34-7 at the half.
Oberlin was the last team standing in southwest Louisiana. Even though the Tigers were unable to reach the semi-finals, this team still made history.
The Tigers had not reached the quarterfinal round since 1961. Yes, that's 48 years.
We here at 7Sports would like to congratulate the Oberlin Tigers along with the other high school football teams in southwest Louisiana for a great 2009 season.
