Lake Charles man killed in Lafayette car crash

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A Lake Charles Man was killed in a car wreck in Lafayette.

Last Friday, at approximately 3:15 PM, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 2800 block of Verot School Road regarding a single vehicle crash. 

According to investigators, the vehicle, a gray Honda Accord, was traveling south on Verot School Road when for unknown reasons the vehicle veered off of the left side of the roadway.  The vehicle left the roadway and struck a culvert in a ditch. 

The driver, Henry David Jones II of Lake Charles, was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.  There were no other persons in the vehicle.

That afternoon Jones was pronounced dead by hospital officials. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department's Traffic Section.
