DHH postpones mass vaccine program

BATON ROUGE, LA (KPLC) - A delay in the delivery of seasonal flu vaccine to the state has prompted The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals to postpone its planned statewide seasonal flu vaccination program scheduled to begin Thursday, November 12th and end Friday, November 20th.

According to DHH, two of the six seasonal flu vaccine manufacturers did not  produce and deliver the full amount ordered by the state of Louisiana. People who are still interested in getting the seasonal flu vaccine should contact their physician, or their public health unit.

No word when the state plans to offer its statewide seasonal flu vaccine program.

Jimmy Meaux, extension agent for the LSU Ag Center in Lake Charles, said fighting fire ants is a non-stop battle. "These big mounds you see are constantly moving," Meaux said. "They're here to stay in Southwest Louisiana." Meaux said one of the most effective ways to kill fire ants is with insecticide and bait. But if a neighborhood collectively has a...
