Swine flu deaths estimated to be 4,000 in U.S.

ATLANTA (AP) - Federal health officials now say that 4,000 or more Americans likely have died from swine flu. That's four times the estimate they've been using.

The higher figure, first reported by The New York Times, includes deaths caused by complications related to swine flu. The CDC says "many millions" of Americans have contracted swine flu since it appeared in April.
