Tropical Storm Ida officially makes landfall in Alabama

By Michael Addison -  email

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Tropical Storm Ida has finally roared ashore in southern Alabama with top sustained winds weakened to about 45 mph.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says it first touched land on Dauphin Island and was headed for the Alabama mainland later Tuesday morning.

Southwest Louisiana will not see any effects from this storm. The rain we saw Monday was a result of separate front.
