LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The recent formation of Tropical Storm Ida proves that the tropics still have some energy left in them this late in the 2009 Hurricane Season.

This tropical system formed in the southern Caribbean and will bring heavy rains for parts of Central America.

Hurricane season runs through November 30, and tropical systems have the capability to form even beyond then - with the right conditions.
