Sulphur daycare loses license

Reported by KPLC  Staff:

SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) - A daycare in Sulphur has lost it's license.

God's Little Blessings Daycare had its license revoked by the State Department of Social Services.

This daycare is 1 of 12 to have their license revoked across the Louisiana.

In a statement, DSS says it found problems in each of the 12 daycare centers that "posed a serious threat to the safety of the children."

One safety issue DSS addressed were dangerous cords on the window blinds and spider webs on the playground.

Natesha Clophus, owner of the daycare, says the state's rules are too broad and unclear to comply with.

"It doesn't make any sense for me to lose my license because of nature, but that's their rules, it's a hazard," says Clophus. "I ask why can't they make a list of what is considered exactly is a hazard. Their rules are just too broad."

Clophus says right now she plans on appealing the state's decision to close the daycare.

Tomorrow night we'll have a full report on how Clophus plans to fight to keep the doors of God's Little Blessings Daycare open.
