Reported By: KPLC Staff

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputy has been arrested and fired amid allegations of sex with a juvenile.

According to Calcasieu Sheriff's officials, their office was contacted Friday, October 30 by a woman claiming her juvenile daughter had sex with 40-year old deputy David N. Thomas of Moss Bluff.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso immediately requested assistance in the criminal investigation from the State Police due to the fact it involved one of his employees.  The Sheriff's Office is conducting an internal investigation and is assisting the State Police with the criminal investigation.

After an initial investigation, State Police arrested Thomas on Tuesday night.  Thomas was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center charged with sexual battery and forcible rape.  Immediately following his arrest, he was terminated from employment with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Thomas worked primarily as a property crimes detective.
