LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - There were many Halloween activities this evening around Lake Charles.
At Prien Lake Mall, the annual Malloween was a big success as hundreds of children went from retailer to retailer trick-or-treating.
Mall marketing director Nikki Buxton was expecting 150 to 200 children to show up, however the actual number of children who showed up to trick-or-treat was more like 500. Some merchants even ran out of candy.
Over at the Lake Charles Civic Center, hundreds more children and families crowded into Halloween Harvest Festival 2009.
The annual event, organized by the Lake Charles Department of Parks and Recreation, provides indoor games, rides and activities for children and their families. Organizers say tonight's crowd was the largest they had ever seen.
And the evening wrapped up in downtown Lake Charles with a hourly performance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
