LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Lake Charles Police have identified a suspect they believe is responsible for the October 20th shooting death of Nicholas Fuselier.
Police have charged 18-year-old Israel Michael Beverly for the murder. Ironically, Beverly was already in jail for an armed robbery charge, that police say occured just moments before the homicide.
Police believe Beverly was trying to make a getaway from an armed robbery he committed just an hour before police say he murdered Fuselier on Cessford Street.
Police believe the murder was random. The victim and suspect did not know each other.
Police say Fuselier was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The investigation is still open. Police say they are now looking for people who they say knew about the murder, but did not come forward to police.
The homicide is Lake Charles' 10th homicide of the year.
