Bond set for man accused of setting dog on fire

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Authorities set bond for a man who is accused of setting a dog on fire in Welsh earlier in October.

Jonathan Sims was in court on Friday morning where he was appointed a public defender, and his bond was set at $10,000.

Sims was picked up by authorities, and he reportedly admitted that he accidentally set the dog on fire. He is now facing aggravated cruelty to animal charges.

Upon last check, the dog - named Chance - continues her recovery at a Lake Charles veterinary clinic, and she is reportedly doing well.
