Lake Charles officials list streets to avoid during heavy rainfall

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - City officials in Lake Charles have compiled a list of streets people should avoid because of the threat for flooding in those areas. That list includes the following streets/roads:

  • 5th St. at Louisiana Ave.
  • Kirkman St. at N. Railroad Ave.
  • Kirkman St. at Pine
  • Kirkman St. between 5th St. and 6th St.
  • Enterprise Blvd. at 5th St.
  • Enterprise Blvd. at Broad St.
  • Bank St. from Broad St. to 7th St.
  • I-210 at Ryan St. Exit Ramp
  • 6th Ave. between Broad St. and 6th St.
  • Sallier from Lake St. to Ernest

    Jurors heard from a man who was robbed at the Twelve Palms RV Park the day that Joshua Touchet was shot and died.

    Witness Clinton Curtice told how there were three men and that one approached him with a handgun and demanded money.  Curtice identified that man as Johnnie Hardman. Hardman is on trial on a charge of first degree-murder.

    The National Hurricane Center continues to highlight an area in Gulf of Mexico for potential tropical development over the next five days. This area to watch is currently located south of the Yucatan Peninsula and strong wind shear will keep this area at a 0% chance of development over the next couple of days before increasing late-week and weekend as it pushes into the Gulf of Mexico.

    Lake area motorists could be in for long-term delays when the repair project begins on the I-210.  Now there's talk of reducing the impact, by offering financial incentives to finish the project early. According to a news release, The Calcasieu Parish Gaming Revenue District will meet Friday to discuss the proposed local financial incentive for the early completion of the project by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development..
