More rain to come

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The weather has certainly caused problems for some residents in the lake area when it comes to flooding. According to meteorologists, we are not in the clear just yet - Thursday and Friday could be much worse.

After the downpour, several cars were swept away by the early morning flood waters.

"One of the things we are really concerned about is people driving into the high water. We had quite a few vehicles that were stranded in the water.  We ask that people be mindful about driving into the high water," said OEP Director Dick Gremillion.

According to the National Weather Service, there is more rain coming. OEP director Dick Gremillion advises people to have a plan in place. Sand and sand bags are currently available for people to pick up in an effort to hold back the water. But, there are other things that you can do before the rain comes.

"People need to look around their property and make sure that the storm drains are not clogged up. That is a very important issue," said Gremillion.

Sand and sand bags can be picked up and filled at these locations:
THE WARD 1 BARN AT 461 PARISH ROAD IN MOSS BLUFF
THE WARD 2 BARN AT 7085 HIGHWAY 14 EAST IN HAYES
THE OLD WARD 3 BARN AT 2320 SMITH ROAD IN LAKE CHARLES

THE WARD 3 P-W FACILITY AT 5500 SWIFT PLANT ROAD IN LAKE CHARLES
THE WARD 4 P-W FACILITY AT 2915 POST OAK ROAD IN SULPHUR
THE WARD 8 BARN AT 1726 PARISH BARN ROAD IN IOWA
