Local foundation increases Parkinson's disease awareness

KPLC STAFF

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Folks all over the lake area donated their time Sunday, October 18th through the "Zydeco for Parkinson's" event.

This is the first time the ELJAY Foundation for Parkinson's Disease has ever hosted the event.

The foundation offered fun through dancing, music, and food at the Brickhouse on Pine Street this afternoon.

The ELJAY foundation is the only organization in the region dedicated to raising funds for Parkinson's disease victims and families.

"I think people would be surprised to find out how much a person's life is affected with this condition and just how their quality of life is affected," says Barbara Miller, director of the ELJAY Foundation for Parkinson's Disease. "We just would like to ask for more support."

If you would like to help out the ELJAY Foundation for Parkinson's Disease, feel free to contact their office at (337) 310-0083.
