LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Firefighters are called out to the Chase bank building downtown. Lake Charles firefighters responded to an alarm on the 8th floor at 5:51 p.m. A trash bend had caught fire from an unknown source. Officials say the floor is currently under construction. We're told the bend was directly under a sprinkler and was extinguished before firefighters arrived. Aside from a lot of water in the lobby area of that floor there was no damage. Statistics show sprinklers work, LCFD Captain Jeremy LeBlanc says 97% of fires in buildings with sprinklers are extinguished before firefighters arrive.
