The event will start at J.J. Johnson with an educational assembly for the students. Following the assembly, students and teachers will participate in a walk to the Foreman-Reynaud Community Center and back to J.J. Johnson. Walk participants will be escorted by the Sheriff's Department, Injury Prevention, Foreman-Reynaud Community Center Workers, and Safe Kids. Parents and grandparents are invited to join their children in this event.
"We plan to educate the students on the importance of looking both ways, where to cross the street and other things related to walking safety," says Safe Kids Coordinator, Sandra Semien.
"If we want to build a culture of safety, it starts with reaching children early so that safe practices and behaviors become second-nature as they grow and develop into safe teens and adults."
