MOSS BLUFF, LA (KPLC) - A suspect remains at large after taking Calcasieu deputies on a high speed chase then fleeing into the woods. It happened some time after midnight in Moss Bluff. Two Deputies were patrolling on Highway 171 just south of the Calcasieu River Bridge when they noticed a truck matching the description of a vehicle reportedly used in a burglary early yesterday morning at Landry's on Highway 3059. The two-tone truck was seen on surveillance video and later reported stolen.

Deputies ran the plates as the vehicle continued north on 171. A pursuit ensued after they got over the bridge and would end on Cob Circle where the truck got stuck in the mud. The suspect fled on foot into nearby woods.

The Sheriff's Office brought in their dogs as well as two from Lake Charles Police. However, deputies say the wet conditions made it difficult for the dogs to pick up on a scent.

At this time the matter remains under investigation. Anyone with information can call the Sheriff's Office at 491-3605.
