Sulphur man charged with cruelty to a juvenile

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a Sulphur man and has charged him with cruelty to a juvenile for injuring his 6-week old son.

The baby boy was under the care of his father, Greg Myers, when the injuries occurred.

The Sheriff's Office investigated the incident after the boy was taken to a pediatric center in Sulphur on October 3. The boy was having difficulty breathing and had swelling on his face. The child was transferred to a hospital, and it was determined he was suffering from a broken nose and hemorrhaging to his right eye.

During their investigation, the Sheriff's Office interviewed the boy's father and he admitted that he caused injuries to the baby. Myers was arrested on October 5, and was charged with 2nd degree cruelty to a juvenile. His bond was set at $800,000.
