By KPLC Staff:

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) For the first time since Pinnacle Entertainment announced its plans to build a new casino in the Lake Area, we now know what Sugarcane Bay casino will look like.

Pinnacle Entertainment says it will begin breaking ground on their new addition, Sugarcane Bay on October 19th. The new casino will be built next to L'Auberge Du Lac. Once the project is complete, Pinnacle will be the second largest employer in Calcasieu Parish. The once 350 million dollar project has now grown to $407 million, and will feature new amenities like a three thousand seat performance arena.

"We truly believe that we will make southwest Louisiana the resort destination of choice, not just for Louisiana, but for the country. Sugarcane Bay offers the kind of ammenities that you are used to from us, from L'Auberge. The best service possible. The four hundred hotel rooms, the brand new swimming pools. The spa alone is 24,000 square feet in size, so we're very excited about that. This is going to become the new destination for travelers," said L'Auberge Du Lac spokesperson Kerry Anderson.

Contruction is scheduled to be complete in 18-24 months.

The Lake Charles Care Center is teaming up with Harbor Hospice for a one-day coat drive aimed at keeping every senior citizen in Calcasieu Parish warm this winter.
