LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC)
BY KPLC Staff:
Hundreds of jobs appear to be headed to Lake Charles thanks to the announcement of the KC- 10 tanker contract awarded to Northtrop Grumman.
U.S. Senator David Vitter anounced the award this afternoon. In the news release, Vitter said the contract will result in te addition of between 150-300 news jobs in the Lake Area.
"This contract brings good news to the Lake Charles region," said Vitter. "With the Air Force's decision to award the KC-10 tanker aircraft contract to Northrop Grumman, we are looking at an economic impact of anywhere between $18 to $35 million per year. As southwest Louisiana continues to recover from the hurricanes of 2005 and 2008, this will provide a much-needed economic boost," Said Vitter.
