Rayne man killed in Interstate 10 accident

Lake Charles, LA (KPLC)-An Accident in Jennings takes the life of a Rayne man. State Police tells 7 News that 27-year-old Michael McCommons lost control of his pickup truck on Interstate 10 around 5:15 PM Monday. The truck ran off the roadway and flipped several times. McCommons was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck. He was rushed to a hospital in Lafayette where he was pronounced dead. A female passenger in the pickup truck was wearing a seatbelt. She was not injured in the crash.

    A marsh fire near Grand Chenier in Cameron Parish is believed to be the cause of smoke in the area. Several viewers have reported the smell of smoke and a haze. The same conditions are present near KPLC's office downtown. Dick Gremillion, head of Calcasieu OEP, said that radar is showing what appears to be a marsh fire in Grand Chenier and that wind conditions are favorable to push the smoke into Calcasieu.
