LAFAYETTE, LA (KPLC) - Hundreds of southern Louisianians showed up for a casting call for the upcoming Disney movie, "The Secretariat."

The movie, which stars Diane Lane and John Malkovich, is slated to begin filming in Lafayette and surrounding areas this week.

Film makers need four thousand extras for the movie, from a variety of background. A casting call on Sunday, led many who wanted to be part of both Louisiana and Hollywood history to the Cajun Dome in Lafayette.

No auditions took place, but those interested in being an extra in the movie did have to wait in lines that numbered into the hundreds.

"The Secretariat" is one of many movies set to be filmed in Louisiana. Film executives say Louisiana is an attractive destination because of the state's film tax credit.
