Jury selection underway for Boyer trial

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Jury selection is underway in the murder trial of suspect Jonathan Boyer.  Boyer is accused of the murder of Bradlee Marsh in 2002... Then the 21 year old Marsh was found fatally shot in a truck on Haffer street...which is just off Bayou D' inde pass in Carlyss.

A worker in the area found the body. Jury selection may wrap up sometime today. It's hoped opening statements can take place tomorrow.

In other court news, sentencing for Michael Jason Miller has been postponed.  In june Miller was convicted of attempted second degree murder and aggravated burglary in the brutal attack of 85 year old Hazel Bergeron.

Bergeron was black and blue and in a wheel chair four months after the attack, but never wavered in her video testimony that Miller was the one who attacked her. She later died. Miller could face a total of 80 years in prison. He will be sentenced at 9 am, Wednesday, October 28th.
