"As we all know, cancer is hardly a laughing matter, but with this event, we're hoping to not only raise awareness for the Foundation's Cancer Care Fund, but also to celebrate the healing process that laughter and positivity can so often bring about," said Leif Pedersen, Memorial's Vice President of Philanthropy. "I believe that just as art and music can have healing powers, so can the art of a good, hearty dose of comedy."
Kober is a native of Lake Charles who now tours the nation and achieved widespread notoriety with her acclaimed brand of stand up comedy. She has been featured on many television shows and specials such as One Night Stand Up on MTV's Logo Network, NESN's Comedy All Stars Show and the online comedy program Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. She can also soon be seen in the feature film Cool Dogs, where she plays villainess Muriel Ledger.
Kober for a Cure will be held on Friday, October 23 at the Brick House, 110 West Pine Street in downtown Lake Charles. Doors will open at 9:30pm and the show will begin at 10pm. There will be a cash bar and a raffle featuring prizes from various local vendors. All attendees must be at least 21 years of age to enter.
