Students react to concession stand arson

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -  It was a community effort that went up in flames. Thursday night the south beauregard high school concession stand was set on fire.

"The community got together and we put in a lot of work. Now it has completely burned to the ground. It is something that effects the whole community, especially tonight being our first home game," said Shane Hungerford.

In the stands, it was clear that people were not happy about what happened.

"I can tell you one thing, there is a $1000 reward out. If I knew who did it I would turn them in for free," said one fan.

But, fans were determined to not let this bring down the team spirit.

"Other than a slight inconvenience and a small loss in profits, it should not affect the players at all. Hopefully we will have a good game tonight," said Paul Brady.

Officials said an estimated $70,000 in damage was done in the fire. Beauregard crime stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible. If you have any information, you can call them at 1-800-273-1374.
