Beauregard Parish homicide update

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The identity of the woman whose body was found on Granberry road in Beauregard parish has been released.   Sheriff Ricky Moses says the victim in the homicide is 27 year old Kimberly Ann Stephens of DeRidder.

The Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office says a preliminary examination showed the victim died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.  Detectives working the case say the suspect in the murder may have injuries to his hands and/or knuckles.  Stephens' body was found by a motorist Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with information that could help solve the crime is being urged to call Beauregard Parish Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-1374, 337-462-8918 or 337-463-3281. Callers may ask for Deputy Jim Cheevers when calling during the day. Crime Stoppers is currently offering a reward of $2000.00 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the crime.

Funeral services are pending at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder.
